Friday

Simon, Charlie and Tim stop-off in Pickering for a quick pint but only after Simon purchases a couple of missing essentials (a flask and some shoes)

 photo 001.JPG

We meet up with Barrie and Pete at the bungalow and with news that Dave and Steve are not far away, we head off to the pub - but not before having a quick pint at our landlord and landlady's in-house bar!

 photo 002.JPG

Moments after arriving at The Badger Hounds pub ...

 photo 002pub.JPG

... Dave and Steve arrive and much manly hugging ensues, with bewildered locals looking on (we're NOT gay, honest).

Chef Pete doesn't want to again face the wrath of Dave "#QuiteParticularAboutHowMySausagesAreCooked" Noble, so he carefully cremates and slices open Dave's bangers ...

 photo 007.JPG

... and there they are

 photo 008.JPG

Breakfast in the poker room - erm, I mean the conservatory!

 photo 009.JPG

As Steve "#WillEatAnythingAndEverythingThatIsLeft" Barker gathers the remaining food items, this little earwig nearly gets included

You have to be of a certain age to 'get' this T-shirt ...

... and here's a clue

So off we go on our coastal walk to Whitby

Tunnel (sadly, it is bricked up)

 photo 036.JPG

We hear gun shots and find a line of parked 4x4s

 photo 039.JPG

Then we see it - a partridge shoot (see video)

One old guy with 2 dogs stands on the path and waits

 photo 038.JPG

Then we find out why - one of the shot birds makes it away from the main shoot before dropping out of the sky. The old guy tells his dogs to 'go get' but they don't seem keen initially. As Simon and Charlie get nearer the dead bird the old guy's commands become more urgent (did he really think we would bag the bird?!) and the dogs finally obey

 photo 040.JPG

Lunch with a view (see video) but please excuse Simon's potty mouth! (He was describing the shooting)

And that means it must be time for the P.P.P.P.P.P. (Potty-mouth Piercy Piri Piri Pot-noodle Pic)

 photo 041.JPG

Lovely waves (see video)

 photo 044.JPG

We make it down to the beach

 photo 045.JPG

We were quite worried about the possibility of drowning because Simon's app said we were 23 feet BELOW sea level!

 photo 047-SP1.PNG

And here come the waves (see video)

 photo 046.JPG

We find some interest rock formations on the beach

As the 7 of us board the bus, Barrie whips out his bus pass - so it's just 6 x £4.90 from the kitty

 photo 067.JPG

During an early evening poker session, Charlie rivers the nuts - quad 3s!

 photo 068.JPG

We head to the pub and whilst selecting our meals, Barrie laughs-out-loud when he sees this strange entry on the menu - a vegetarian meal with bacon?!

 photo 069.JPG

The Usual Suspects

 photo 070.JPG

We enter a 4-man team in the charity Bullseye competition, during which - Simon gets a bullseye (and Charlie, the darts player, gets three 1s)

 photo 070bullseye.JPG

 photo 071.JPG

We do manage to win 4 raffle prizes though (we gave one back)

 photo 074.JPG

We get back to the farm in time to see the dying embers of a previous bonfire

 photo 072.JPG

Dave stokes it up a bit and creates enough smoke to upset Simon in his star gazing

Sunday

In the bathroom we have this little fellow ...

 photo 075.JPG

... a jacuzzi bath (which nobody tried out all weekend) ...

 photo 076.JPG

... and a TV!

 photo 077.JPG

The early morning run duo (including fetching us some more milk)

 photo 078.JPG

We drive to Whitby for a walk up to the cliffs for 2 minutes silence, a look at the abbey, a walk round the town, a few beers and then fish and chips ...

 photo 105.JPG

Once again, Steve "#WillEatAnythingAndEverythingThatIsLeft" Barker clears up any leftovers

 photo 106.JPG

At this point we said goodbye to Barrie and Pete and then headed back to the bungalow. On route we once again dip below sea level (according to Simon's car)

 photo 107.JPG

The farm has a menagerie ... including peacocks, chickens, geese, goats, emus and llamas ...

We then formed a geo-cache search party, to help Simon bag another one nearby

 photo 116.JPG

We also discover a blue door in a slanting wall. Steve is convinced that the door is NOT perpendicular to the horizontal. Charlie's clinometer app proves that it is ...

 photo 119.PNG

Steve doesn't remember applying for permission to build a swimming pool ...

 photo 120.JPG

We head to the pub and have an epic pool match, plus much fun on the quiz machine (mostly pop quiz). It ends up with just the 5 of us and the landlady - she looked like she would serve us drinks all night long!

 photo 121.JPG

In the morning we just about managed to cook some sausages in the oven (eventually!) before clearing up and heading home.

And now, just for fun, a Caption Competition. Please send your suggestions to Charlie at his work email. Thanks.
