A few reminders of our weekend
THE USUAL SUSPECTS...

Friday
Charlie, Simon and Tim are soon met by Barrie and Pete for a traditional pit-stop in Pickering.
A rare sight - Pete at the bar with his purse out.

A wee pony grazing outside the cottages.
For once we actually walk PAST the pub.
Sunny drink-stop with a view
Now who could this be, texting his missus coz he's managed to get a signal on his slim-brick? "Nice to see you, to see you nice! ... Good game, good game ..."
(Later that night, Dave was to find out just how disappointing the 'Brucie Bonus' was)
The same train that we would catch a ride home on later ...
... and here's a video of it travelling along the valley
Across the valley to the moors
"I can hear a choo-choo!"
And there's the engine pulling it ...

Lunch stop Piercy Pot Noodle Pic (Mini-Tim flavour?) This has seen better days All routes lead to Skelton Tower And so we begin our crossing of the moor ...

Chopper under wraps (well, mostly) They don't make signs like this any more
Click PLAY to watch the train approach ...
"Tickets please!" Steam rising between the coaches Coal smuts in your eyes See the orange glow of the engine's fire reflected in the steam ...
Lulled to sleep by the "diddly-dum, diddly-dees" Levisham Station Steve's bent finger - it may get less bent over time. Preparing for another slap-up meal at The Horseshoe Inn. Levisham Moor, via Hole of Horcum

The Usual Suspects Simon attempts to make instant home-made hot chocolate - FAIL Skelton Tower in the hazy distance And then it was a bit of a route-march home to get back in time to watch the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix ...
... before heading home.
The Fleet
After an excellent evening in The Horseshoe Inn (now restored to its former glory), the Officer-In-Charge of Toast gets to work.
A sight possiblly more rare than Pete buying a drink... during the usual late night poker session, Charlie makes a straight flush to win the game.
Saturday
Big fella
Simon contemplates how one of these could grow taller than the Eiffel Tower.
Breakfast extra?
"Heartbeat" stuff
A well-earned pint (or two) before getting the train home
