Seatoller, Lake District
A few reminders of our weekend
THE USUAL SUSPECTS...
- Barrie "Steady on Derek, you hit 71 mph then!" Astbury
- Charlie "We're never gunna find a place on route that sells Pot Noodles, Simon" Grant
- Pete "Surely you can't need to stop for a wee AGAIN, Derek?!" Smith
- Simon "There's a Pot Noodle out there somewhere with my name on it, I know it!" Piercy
- Dave "PLEEEEASE let me drive on the way home Derek?!" Noble
- Tim "There's a petrol station up ahead Simon but I bet they don't sell
Pot Noodles" Spate
- Steve "I must have had a bad pint - no breakfast for me please Barrie" Barker
- Derek "We're going up THERE!?!? Are there any toilets? Will I be warm
enough? ... <etc, etc>" Thompson
(These first three photos are low resolution mobile phone camera shots)
Friday afternoon
Simon's forgotten to bring his famous Pot Noodle - oh no! Late on in the journey we take a pit stop at a tiny fuel station. It turns out that just about the only things they sell are petrol and Pot Noodles! A miracle perhaps? Certainly worth capturing the moment anyway ...
Friday evening
Steve finishes a pint (I wonder if that was the "bad one" ?)
Friday night
Simon takes a power nap (before his late night poker session)
Saturday
The following clip was supposed to be a panoramic view of Buttermere but the camera batteries ran out after 12 seconds (the replacements were back at the cottage - oops! Thanks to Tim for lending his)
The first time we've had to frame eight suspects into the line-up for the auto-timed group shot
Tim shows Derek the route. Derek moans about how far and high it is ...
... while the rest of us enjoy Dave's Minstrels
A glorious day
Lunch stop
Here it is ... the Piercy Pot Noodle Pic!
Bad hair day!
A view from the summit
(Another mobile phone camera shot now ...)
Some of us stopped for a drink on the way back to the cottage. Tim tried a pint of "Sneck Lifter" - heavy going but he managed to finish it (I wonder if it managed to lift his sneck?)
Sunday
Part of the newbies initiation ... doing the dishes
And here's another view of that unbelievable "it wasn't even fashionable in the 70s" top of Steve's ...
After just about making it out into the back garden for 11am and two minutes silence, we headed off to Keswick for a bit of shopping, including a successful trip to George Fisher's for Charlie's long awaited new boots.
Out with old ...
... and in with the new!
Time for the traditional Sunday lunch time drink(s) ...
... and then off home.
